Our loss is Sunnyvale's gain

My good friend Dave Beckett is leaving the UK to work for Yahoo. We're all insanely happy for him, but he'll be much missed from our parties and get-togethers here.

I met Dave at a conference in Austin, Texas, and it took a long time before we managed to meet in the UK itself, so things will probably seem bizarrely unchanged.
Hong Kong

One of the early enjoyable moments I shared with Dave was when, in 2001, we sat sipping scotch in the cocktail lounge of a swanky Hong Kong hotel, reflecting on the life of luxury the Semantic Web already afforded us.

Dave's hard work on RDF specs and the Redland toolkit have enabled the Semantic Web project and a lot of companies and people to make advances, so it's fantastic to see him get this opportunity within Yahoo.

Congratulations, Dave!
